Blinkx.tv teams up with GMTV for entertainment and news on demand

LONDON - Television video and desktop search group Blinkx has teamed up with ITV's breakfast show GMTV to allow its 25m viewers the opportunity to catch up on all the morning news and entertainment from the daily show.

users can use the service at any point during the day to tune into highlights of GMTV's morning mix of news, celebrity gossip and current affairs.

Users are able to choose segments of the show and jump to the exact clip they are looking for.

Blinkx, which recently launched its television search service, is becoming a popular place to search and view video-on-demand, according to Nog Sawdon, head of new media at GMTV.

"Linking up with Blinkx provides us with an innovative way to contribute that success as we move into a new phase, by making excerpts from GMTV available on the web. As more and more people get broadband access at home, offering viewers a way to watch their favourite TV shows is increasingly important," Sawdon said.

GMTV is shown on ITV from 6am to 9.25am everyday and is presented by Fiona Philips, John Stapleton, Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, Andrew Castle, Penny Smith and Lorraine Kelly.

Suranga Chantratillake, CEO and founder of Blinkx, said: "Featuring fresh content everyday, including newspaper reviews, weather and daily showbiz gossip, the GMTV channel on Blinkx.tv is set to become part of many people's daily routines."
