BJK&E wins £1m Marie Curie media account

LONDON - BJK&E has taken Marie Curie Cancer Care's £1m media buying account from Frontline, which held the business for 13 years.

The pitch came down to four agencies, with Zed Media and Total Media also participating along with the incumbent and BJK&E.

The review was managed by the AAR on behalf of Marie Curie's PR and marketing director, Chris Dainty.

Mark Chandler, head of marketing strategy at Marie Curie, said: "We're very pleased to be working with BJK&E - they showed passion and commitment; their work showed a good understanding of our business needs; and they clearly demonstrated how they would help us maximise our communication."

The media agency appointment follows the change of agency on the client's creative account in March.

The charity hired DLKW to replace Maher Bird Associates, with a brief to create a campaign to differentiate it from other cancer charities such as Macmillan and Cancer Research UK.

The first work is expected to break either in the second half of this year or first quarter of 2008.

Marie Curie's role is providing terminal patients with nursing help.
