In previous 'Big Brother' outings, almost half the housemates have been in relationships, which Channel 4 has learned does not make for such explosive viewing.
Of the new 13-strong 'Big Brother 6' housemates, three are foreigners, with the hope being that they will be more liberal than their English counterparts on matters such as sex and nudity.
Last year included South African Vanessa and eventual winner Nadia, who was Portuguese.
Producers will also be hoping to catch more action with by installing heat-seeking cameras in the bedroom to capture the late-night antics of any of the housemates.
The newly built house has also been designed to give the housemates as little privacy as possible, with a glass wall separating the kitchen from the bedroom and the living room being a glass box in the garden.
There will be no chickens for the contestants to look after this year. Instead there will be 27 garden gnomes, one of which has been fitted with a secret spy camera.
According to a source at the show: "The contestants will think the gnomes are harmless, but one will be recording them. Now it's not just 'Big Brother' who is watching their every move -- the gnomes are as well."
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, there will also be a soldier in the show from the elite Parachute Regiment, a pro windsurfer and a basketballer.
It has been rumoured that one of the contestants may be a witch or someone with a high-profile job that viewers may recognise, although Channel 4 usually remains tight lipped about the contestants till the opening night.
The housemates will be vying for £100,000 in prize money, £30,000 more than in last year's pot.
