Behind the scenes: 'Voice of God' installation

Bompas & Parr worked with acoustic scientists to design and build a sound-based installation - Voice of God - that appeared to connect consumers with the supernatural.

The supernatural voice installation ran from 29 September until 2 October in London, at Hilton London Bankside as part of the eclectic annual arts festival Merge Bankside. It submitted voices, transposed to infrasound, to give visitors the impression of a ghostly or divine experience.

Bompas & Parr claims it is the first time that infrasound has been creatively used to give people a spectral visitation.

Sam Bompas from Bompas & Parr said: "Over the weekend we had more than 2,000 people visiting the installation. They were questioning consciousness, our perception of the physical world and our understanding of the supernatural. Visitors submitted sound files as the ‘Voice of God’ ranged from the practical, ‘Wear sunscreen’ to the philosophical ‘I don’t exist’ to the unprintable."
Bompas & Parr is also working on an in Soho to celebrate the joy of bees and to showcase some of the rarest honeys in the world, taking place this weekend.
