Beat the Brief contestants announced for first heat

Event can reveal the six acts competing in the first live heat of the Beat the Brief industry talent competition, taking place on 19 May at London's Caf茅 de Paris.

The competition, launched by entertainment company Sternberg Clarke in partnership with Event magazine, will consist of three live heats with one act from each going on to compete in the final at this year’s Event Awards at Troxy on 2 October.

Acts competing in the first heat include comedian and magician , vocal a cappella and beatboxing group and . Joining them are UK pun champion , gospel and soul duo and hula-hooping collaborative .

Judges confirmed for the first heat include Lynden Bugler from British Airways; Adam Sternberg, director at Sternberg Clarke; Samantha Edwards, news editor at Event magazine; Liz Lockard, group events manager at Haymarket Publishing; and Andrew Birnie, general manager at Café de Paris.

There is still time to enter one of the other Beat the Brief heats.

How to enter

Acts must submit the following information by Friday 9 May to be considered for the competition:

•    Name of the act.
•    Contact details for the act, including the name of a relevant person, telephone number(s) and an email address.
•    A description, no longer than 200 words, detailing what the act consists of, why it is suitable for a corporate audience and any examples of events where they have successfully interpreted and executed a brief.
•    A video showcasing the work of the act.

Entries must be emailed to Sarah Thorniley-Walker on sarah@sternbergclarke.co.uk. Please note aerial-related acts cannot be accepted.
