BBC Entertainment launches new idents

LONDON - BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has launched three new idents for BBC Entertainment.

The idents, created by London-based design agency Dunning Eley Jones, have been designed to showcase the three key programming genres on the channel -- drama, comedy and light entertainment.

Each ident features its own genre-themed water fountain, coloured in purple or blue, set on a black background.

Matt Penney, creative director at Dunning Eley Jones, said: "An iconic visual metaphor was needed for the idents which would resonate across all international territories and convey the channel as a 'great entertainment' destination. The overall effect is rich, colourful, vibrant and, above all, entertaining."

The new idents will air this month.

Garry Sinclair, vice-president of creative at BBC Worldwide Channels, said: "Dunning Eley Jones have created a set of three idents that are mesmerising to watch and reflect, in a subtle way, the genres while being general enough to work across all the territories where BBC Entertainment is available."

BBC Entertainment is available in south-east Asia, India, Poland, Africa, and Latin America. Programmes include 'Spooks' and 'Dancing with the Stars'.
