Emap Performance has appointed head of BBC Music Entertainment Trevor Dann as managing director with responsibility for pop brands.
From November Dann will oversee development of the pop music brand Smash Hits across print, online, radio, television and events.
Dann is joined by Dave Henderson, charged with developing the rock brands Kerrang!, Mojo, Q and Select across all media, and Mark Story, who will develop the dance brands Mixmag and Kiss. All three will report to Emap Performance managing director Dee Ford.
The appointments follow the launch last month of a Smash Hits masthead TV show on Sky 1, The Box TV channel and a radio show on the Big City Network. Emap Performance has also launched Kiss TV and intends to launch Q TV on Sky Digital this month, and has plans to develop Q as a digital radio station format.
Dann has previously handled all the BBC鈥檚 in-house pop production, including Radios 1 and 2.
鈥淧op people demand three-dim-ensional media choices, so we will turn Smash Hits into a super brand that they can see, hear and interact with,鈥 said Emap Performance chief executive Tim Schoonmaker.
