Barclays Global Investors pushes iShares service

LONDON – Barclays Global Investors, the investment-banking arm of Barclays Bank, is targeting professional investors with a $6m (£3.4m) pan-European campaign pushing its iShares exchange-traded fund.

The drive, developed by WCRS' direct arm, Personal, will run across press, online and direct mail, using messages based on customer research about world indexes.

The ads carry lines such as "Why isn't Japan easier to get into?" They are intended to challenge perceptions of the market and alert financial advisers to the iShares service, which allows investment in funds that closely track a specific market index.
