The scheme, which allows Barclaycard holders to earn reward points by using their card for transactions, has signed up Shell as its latest partner, joining companies such as Pizza Express and npower.
Other brands participating include LA Fitness, Yo! Sushi, Goldsmiths, Nationwide Autocentres, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Flight Centre. A full list of participants can be found at Barclaycardfreedom.co.uk.
The launch of Barclaycard Freedom will be backed by an above-the-line campaign by Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), to launch this month.
The financial services brand claims that Freedom opens up small and medium-sized retailers to a rewards programme for the first time.
Barclaycard's eight million UK cardholders will automatically earn ‘Reward Money', whenever they make a purchase at a participating retailer. The rewards will usually equate to about 1% of the transaction total, although at Shell, it will only equate to 0.5%.
Sarah Newman, managing director at Barclaycard Freedom, said: "The range of retailers in Barclaycard Freedom means that our customers can earn Reward Money when they are shopping on the high street, filling up the car, going out for a meal or shopping online."
