Last month the company announced the beginning of a two-year project to phase out the Norwich Union brand in favour of Aviva. Recently-appointed group marketing director Amanda MacKenzie will oversee the transition.

The appointment of The Gate to the Norwich Union Life and Collective Insurance brands comes only six weeks after completing a review its £4m digital roster.

It selected Soup, GT, Glue and Chemistry to look after Norwich Union Insurance, plus Teamspirit, Chemistry and GT to develop online ads for Norwich Union Life.
