The RSPCA announced that it Discover Dogs and Crufts after a recent , highlighted health problems with breeding certain pedigree dogs.
But the Kennel Club said it was committed to health and welfare, and does not expect visitors numbers at the two massive shows to be affected by the RSPCA's decision.
The Kennel Club statement in full:
"Discover Dogs and Crufts give the Kennel Club and other organisations a great opportunity to educate the dog loving public about the overriding importance of health and welfare. The events also celebrate the important role of dogs with many activities and displays taking place.
"Crufts, over the four days it takes place in March at the NEC Birmingham has over 400 trade stands and last year received 158,000 visitors. The RSPCA is just one of these 400 trade stands promoting their work and services. Since their withdrawl from the event the space has already been filled and there are still tradestands on the waiting list.
"Discover Dogs which takes place at Earls Court 2 has over 100 trade stands and again has filled the space since the withdrawal of the RSPCA. The Kennel Club does not expect that visitor numbers will be affected by the RSPCA withdrawal from either show since so we have so many other loyal supporters."
