ASA dismisses 'oral sex' complaints against Tango campaign

LONDON - The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has dismissed complaints made against a campaign for Britvic-owned soft drink Tango, as the statements in the ads were too 'ridiculous' to interpret literally.

The majority of the 82 complainants were against a poster, by Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), stating ‘Too much Tango made me suck a Bull's udder', claiming it suggested oral sex with a bull.

Two complainants were also offended by a poster which stated, ‘Too much Tango made me shave my Nan. Innit,' as they found the topic of shaving pubic hair unsuitable for public display.

The ASA dismissed the complaints, stating that although some people may interpret ‘suck a bull's udder' in a sexual way, very young children and other ‘innocent viewers' would not.
