Located at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London, the venue has already been named as Britain’s tallest piece of public art. The structure was initially funded by steel brand ArcelorMittal.
The proposed slide will run from the platforms of the structure down to ground level. The enclosed steel tube will wind around the latticework of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, and glass casing will provide an exciting way to view the London skyline.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park aims to open the slide in 2016.
Mark Allan, events sales manager at the ArcelorMittal Orbit, confirmed to Event that the feature will be available to groups booking private and corporate events at the space.
He said: "It’s going to make us one of, if not the most, unique venue in London."
Peter Tudor, director of visitor services at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, added: "What more exciting way to descend the ArcelorMittal Orbit than on the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide?
"We are committed to ensuring our visitors have the best possible day out every time they visit Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and as with all our venues, we are constantly exploring ways to ensure we lead the way with the latest visitor experience. This slide really will give a different perspective of Britain’s tallest sculpture."
