Orriss left RPM in March and has since been working on her own creative projects in Los Angeles.

She takes over from Because’s former creative director Natasha Blevins, who has chosen to go freelance.

Orriss has experience in creative art direction, brand strategy, experiential marketing and design and has worked with clients such as Nissan, Smirnoff, Coca-Cola, Sky and Baileys.

Sharon Richey, chief executive of Because, said: "Cat will play a key role in continuing to drive our creative offering forward. Cat’s media-neutral outlook and proven creative flair will be a great asset to our team."

Orriss’ appointment coincides with the opening of a new head office for Because in a studio near Ascot racecourse. It has unconventional features like a seating area styled on a Tube carriage and a greenhouse which will act as an ideas space for the agency.
