
Collins, who is responsible for AutoTrader.co.uk at Trader Media Group, will take up the role from October for one year, working alongside current co-chair Tim Faircliff, general manager of consumer media at Thomson Reuters.
Reay, digital and multimedia director at Telegraph Media Group, became AOP co-chair in October 2008. She will formally complete and hand over her tenure to Collins at the AOP Summit on 7 October.
She said the following year is "going to be no less challenging", but believes Faircliff and Collins "can steer a clear path" on behalf of AOP members.
The joint chairmanship aims to allow greater rotation in the role, with representatives drawn from newspapers, magazines, broadcasters and online-only players to reflect AOP's membership across the publishing industry.
