The website, Flytrapgames.com, has been set up as a guide to casual gaming, either online, through traditional games consoles or via mobiles.
The site is part of AOL's campaign to launch more than 30 new websites across its MediaGlow network, which launched in January. The network, one of AOL's core businesses, centralises all its programming efforts, including AOL.com, and operates 70 sites globally.
The infrastructure includes two studios that provide new video production capabilities from HD video to complete editing and encoding.
Key features of FlyTrapGames will include game releases on mobile and consoles, as well as independent articles about gaming sites, competitions and interactive comment.
AOL already offers online games through its portal games.aol.co.uk, which reaches almost one million unique visitors a month.
