AOL Time Warner executive <br>takes up joint MD post in UK

LONDON - AOL Time Warner has appointed Melinda J Mount as co-managing director of AOL UK. Mount, who comes from the US parent company, most recently worked on the company's acquisition of UK publishing group IPC Media.

Mount, who held the position of vice-president of finance and acquisitions at AOL Time Warner, will report to Karen Thomson, who was recently named chief executive officer and co-managing director of AOL UK.

Mount will be responsible for strategy, business development, interactive marketing and programming in the new role.

At AOL Time Warner, Mount was responsible for business planning, mergers and acquisitions, industry and competitive analysis, and the development of long-term financial strategies. She worked closely with the management of AOL-owned Time Inc on its acquisition of IPC.

Mount led the development of the business plan and planning processes for the combined AOL Time Warner after the merger, and previously oversaw corporate strategy, business planning and capital allocation as vice-president of corporate strategy and development at Time Warner.

Gerald M Levin, CEO of AOL Time Warner, said, "Mindy is a versatile and broadly experienced executive who has been an integral part of many of the company's most significant initiatives. Her appointment to this position reflects the continued growth of AOL Time Warner's international operations and their increasingly important role in our company's future."

Before joining Time Warner in 1995, Mount was vice-president in the mergers and acquisitions department at investment bank Morgan Stanley, which she joined in 1987 after completing her MBA at Harvard Business School.
