AOL Europe names Steckler to head interactive marketing

LONDON - AOL Europe has appointed Michael Steckler from MSN UK to head interactive marketing.

Steckler, who led sales and business development team and commercial channels programme at MSN, will take on the role of vice president, interactive marketing, overseeing the growth of the Time Warner-owned company's advertising business as AOL pursues aggressive expansion plans throughout Europe.

Dana Dunne, CEO, AOL Europe, said: "Michael brings a wealth of online sales experience and his in-depth knowledge of the industry will help us in achieving our ambitious goals in the audience business sector.

"Michael will help us drive sales as well as develop new initiatives with the European team to build on our current sales performance across Europe. We're very pleased to have him on board."

Prior to MSN, Steckler worked at Haymarket Magazines across a number of consumer titles, before spending four years in the outdoor industry as head of agency sales at Clear Channel International.

"AOL is poised for growth in Europe, having successfully transitioned to a Web-based company, making this a perfect time to join. AOL has also established a strong reputation for quality service among advertisers in Europe, and I will work to build on that," Steckler said.

His appointment follows the departure last week of AOL Europe's head of monetisation services, Michael Moore, to the Telegraph Media Group as executive director of consumer markets.
