In July, Amazon killed all the electronic copies of Orwell's dystopian novel, citing copyright reasons - a decision Bezos later called "stupid, thoughtless, and painfully out of line with our principles".
Amazon is now offering to redeliver the book to users, or if they don't want it, can claim a $30 Amazon.com voucher - the equivalent of three Nineteen Eighty Four's.
Strangely, Amazon claims all copies of Nineteen Eighty Four redelivered will include any original annotations, or notes, made by the user on their individual copies - not helping the company shed its "big brother" image.
In his email to customers, Bezos shows off his literary flair: "We will use the scar tissue from this painful mistake to help make better decisions going forward, ones that match our mission."
