The discounter has also unveiled a TV spot to show its support for Team GB in the build-up to Rio, which was unveiled last night in the ad break between Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Aldi is the first official supermarket partner to Team GB, announcing the sponsorship as part of its 25th anniversary last year. The extended sponsorship sees the retailer continue to support the UK team and work with the British Olympics Association on community initiatives.

Matthew Barnes, chief executive officer for Aldi UK and Ireland, said: "We became an official partner to Team GB more than a year ago and have been supporting our nation’s extraordinary athletes on the road to Rio since then.

"Like everyone, we are very much looking forward to seeing them perform at their best in a month’s time.
