
The firm, which has offices in 29 countries across the globe, is headquartered in Scotland and specialises in short-term power and temperature control systems.
The £37m deal will see it provide power across 39 venues in seven different locations – London, Cardiff, Coventry, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Weymouth - using a team of 150 staff.
In addition to supporting the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Aggreko equipment will also be used to power field-of-play lighting and camera equipment in the various stadia as well as powering the International Broadcasting Centre, which will be providing television feeds to billions of people around the world.
The company has had good grounding in Olympic events having previously worked on the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the Vancouver 2010 winter games and will also be a Tier 3 sponsor of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
