Age Concern unveils interactive tool for older people

LONDON - Age Concern, the UK charity concerned with older people, has launched an interactive campaign to help ageing people and their relatives manage their lives more easily.

The charity has worked with digital agency Head to create The Age Concern LifeBook, which is available as a free service online at and as a booklet.

Site visitors can complete the LifeBook online in stages. They are guided through a process of recording their practical details which has been designed for ease of use.

The LifeBook can be used to manage personal affairs such as birthdays, insurance renewal dates, utility suppliers and store cards, while there is also a section to record final wishes.

The launch of Age Concern's LifeBook interactive website coincides with new research by the charity which revealed that the majority of British people have no idea where they keep important documents - 62 per cent of Brits do not organise their important documents and 42 per cent have no idea where they keep their birth certificates.

"Our experience of working with older people shows that as we age we appreciate the importance of planning and getting our affairs in order," said Sharon Dobson, product development manager at Age Concern.

"The Age Concern LifeBook will keep a record of all important information for families or a trusted person to look after their affairs should the need arise. It allows for planning, peace of mind and assures people that everything will be settled if necessary."
