The idea ties in with the charity's Sunday Lunch clubs, which provide old people with an occasion for company, and with Aunt Bessie's range of traditional Sunday lunch favourites such as Yorkshire pudding.
A PR and marketing campaign is encouraging people to raise money to support the Sunday Lunch clubs by registering at the Age Concern website and making Sunday lunch for friends in return for donations.
Age Concern is to run an official event on Sunday October 19, but people can organise their own event at any time.
Iain Cassidy, corporate director at Age Concern, said: "Age Concern's Great Sunday Lunch provides the perfect reason to get together with close friends and family as well as a chance to help older people in need. Age Concern is delighted to be working with Aunt Bessie's on The Great Sunday Lunch and feels the brand values fit perfectly."
The campaign is supported by celebrities Tess Daly, Anthony Worrall Thompson and Bruce Forsyth. It includes a five-page recipe feature in women's magazine Good Housekeeping.
