The print, radio, in-store and PR campaign, by Ogilvy Advertising, rolls out this weekend and is timed to coincide with the clocks going forward tomorrow (24 October).
The campaign celebrates the winter season, and promotes AGA as the perfect complement to chilly British winter evenings. As part of the campaign, AGA is launching a micro-site, AGAseason.co.uk.
Radio ads voiced by TV presenter Stephen Fry features a series of ‘Odes to AGA'.
In one, Fry comments on Christmas: ‘Turkey slowly cooking; parsnips perfectly roasting; Yorkshires easily rousing ... Generations eagerly gathering; with Christmas quietly calling; ‘tis the season of AGA-installing. Enjoy a season of events at your local AGA store.'
Another radio execution plays more literally on the nostalgia factor: ‘When you choose an AGA, you're not buying a cooker - you are deciding how your children will remember growing up.'
Ogilvy was hired to create a new campaign for AGA in July. Agency founder David Ogilvy worked as an AGA door-to-door salesman in Scotland in the 1930s.
