Aegis plugs digital gap with De-construct acquisition

LONDON - Aegis has bought the digital agency De-construct, which counts the BBC and Marks & Spencer among its clients, in a deal worth 拢4.8m over the next three years.

The London creative agency, founded in 2001 by former Deepend staff, including Dan Douglas, has been acquired to plug a gap in the UK offering of Aegis' global digital network Isobar. Other clients of the agency include Working Title Films, Panasonic and Smirnoff.

The deal sees Aegis acquire 100% of the equity, which was previously held by its founders. It is paying an initial consideration of 拢1.2m in cash and there will also be a deferred cash consideration of up to 拢4.8m, payable over three years and subject to rigorous performance criteria.

Aegis CEO Doug Flynn said: "The UK was one of the few gaps in Isobar's creative service capability and De-construct's award-winning capability in the digital space will now deliver the highest level of service to its clients."

Aegis also owns the media agencies Carat and Vizeum and the outdoor specialist Posterscope. Isobar was formed in July last year and Aegis has been expanding since then, with acquisitions including the Australian digital agency One Digital and Korea's Agency W.
