Adconion branches out with online video network

LONDON - Independent online advertising network Adconion Media Group has expanded its services to include video ads.

The new network offers advertisers an additional channel to reach target audiences through displays, email and video. Adconion owns the technology required to play the ads and all clients who use the service will have an Adconion video player that they can embed on their sites.

The network includes ads that play before, during or after online video content, and also overlay ads, which run alongside the video content.

Advertisers will still be able to use Adconion's existing service of using video ads within standard online ad formats, including Internet Advertising Bureau-supported banners and multiple purpose units, without the need for additional technology add-ons.

Tyler Moebius, CEO of Adconion, said: "With the launch of the new video network, Adconion is one step closer to fulfilling our ambitious vision to become the largest IPTV [internet protocol television] network by 2010."

Recent comScore figures reveal that 27.4m internet users in the UK watch video online, comprising 78% of the UK's total internet audience.

Figures also showed that 3.2bn videos were watched online in June 2008.
