The 3 Free Agent programme asks consumers to use their social networking sites to give free 3 PAYG SIMs to their mates.
When they put their free SIM into a 3G phone and top-up, the user gets £5 cash paid into a Pay Pal account and their friends get £2 extra applied to their PAYG credit.
Once signed up, agents use a dedicated portal called Freeagent.three.co.uk that allows them to organise and email their contacts and keep a track on how much money will be paid into their PayPal account once their ‘shopper' has topped up.
3 will also launch a Facebook widget allowing 3 Free Agents to personalise it to their home page and promote Free SIMs to their wider social networks.
The launch of the campaign follows the announcement of O2's forthcoming Giffgaff network which offers money back for consumer recommendation.
