Zoo switches editors as Noguera takes expanded role

LONDON – Lads weekly Zoo's international expansion has been followed by a change of editor, as Arena editor Anthony Noguera takes the chair from Paul Merrill, who becomes international editor.

The international editor role has been created as Zoo begins to expand outside the UK. It has just announced a joint venture in Spain with Focus Ediciones, whose weekly Sie7e was relaunched this week as Zoo Sie7e.

Zoo's drive in the men's weekly market will now be led by Noguera, the editor of Arena and a former editor of FHM, which he helped to establish as the monthly market leader.

He also becomes editor-in-chief of Emap's UK men's lifestyle titles, Zoo, Arena and Arena Homme Plus, but will also be working on special projects.

Zoo has trailed IPC's Nuts since both launched in early 2004, and the latest ABC figures show Nuts selling 275,459 to Zoo's 240,215. With new figures due in two weeks, IPC is bullish about Nuts retaining its leadership.
