ZenithOptimedia man joins the Telegraph as ad director

LONDON - The Telegraph Group is bringing in ZenithOptimedia's group head of press and radio Jim Freeman to take over from group sales director Chris White-Smith, who left in December.

ZenithOptimedia man joins the Telegraph as ad director

ZenithOptimedia chief executive Antony Young said that Freeman is still with the agency and his notice period was being agreed amicably. Freeman has been with the agency for 14 years and took up his current position in January 2003.

Freeman's role will be split in two with Kelly Harrold to take over as head of press and Mike Buckley as head of radio. Harrold has spent two years as the deputy head of press and has been with ZenithOptimedia for 14 years. Buckley has headed the radio department for the last two years, and Young said the succession will be seamless.

The Telegraph's move is one of several senior changes since the arrival of Murdoch MacLennan in September from Associated Newspapers.

Three directors left their jobs within the same week in December: White-Smith; Mark Payne, commercial director; and Mark Dixon, group marketing director.

Dave King, managing director of Emap Advertising, was poached in December to become an executive director responsible for advertising policy.
