Zendor pushes for outsourcing of distance shopping

LONDON – As the home shopping market continues to grow, fulfilment company Zendor is pushing the benefits of outsourcing distance shopping requirements to those firms that lack the infrastructure to cash in on the market.

Last year, the direct catalogue sector grew by 7.1% hitting sales of £5.6bn and, according to a recent report commissioned by the Royal Mail, online sales are predicted to increase to £40.5bn by 2010.

However, the cost of setting up an operation to take advantage of this burgeoning distance shopping market is beyond the reach of some firms.

These firms, Zendor says, should consider outsourcing their distance shopping fulfilment, including order processing, warehousing, delivery, and related services, such as direct marketing and e-commerce, to third-party experts.

Zendor argues that the cost of outsourcing to a fulfilment specialist can substantially reduce start-up costs, together with capital and operation costs.
