The Lamb Tavern in Leadenhall will see a visit from the Young’s Shire horses, a live band and an outside bar. Meanwhile, The Paternoster at St. Paul’s is planning a 'Good Ol' Fashioned Cockney Knees Up', with classic songs, food and cockney riddles.
Over in Wimbledon, the Hand in Hand will host a Mad Hatters Beer Party, with ale tea pots and jam tarts. The Alma in Wandsworth will combine its birthday celebrations with the anniversary of the Battle of the Alma, while The Weyside in Guildford will host a prohibition-themed party.
The pub chain is encouraging customers to share their memories from their local Young’s pub by sharing photos on social media, tagging @youngspubs and using the hashtag #185YearsYoungs. It has also brewed a special beer to mark the occasion – Young’s Autumn Gold – served in a commemorative glass. Customers can enjoy a pint for free on 22 September by registering on the Young's website.
