LONDON - Yahoo is launching a new desktop application that will allow users to access their Yahoo, AOL and Gmail messages when they are not connected to the internet.

The Yahoo Zimbra Desktop messaging software, developed by Yahoo-owned software company Zimbra, creates a centralised area where e-mails from multiple accounts can be accessed when not connected to the internet.

E-mails can also be written and set to send the next time an internet connection is detected. As well as linking to other tools, such as a search option that will scan a user's e-mail and pull up relevant content, the desktop application will also include features, such as document creation and spreadsheets, through Zimbra Documents, and on-line file storage, through Zimbra Briefcase.

The ability to convert e-mails into instant messaging conversations will also be possible, in addition to organisational tools.
