Speaking at a Salomon Smith Barney conference in New York yesterday, chairman and chief executive Terry Semel said that out of Yahoo!'s 218m visitors, 80m are active registered users and account for 80% of customer revenue.
Paid-for services include sponsored search services, additional email storage space, which is already available, and a broadband joint venture the company has entered into with SBC Communications.
The SBC partnership, which is set to begin in June, will see the companies share revenues, which for Yahoo! alone could total £14m-£20m in its first year of operation.
Semel revealed that Yahoo!'s 2002 earnings are projected at between £24m and £52m on revenue of between £503m and £544.5m.
Semel added that the company is expecting 2001 fourth-quarter earnings to come in at between its break-even target and one-cent a share, on revenues of between £111m and £125m. It expects to record bottom-line earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortisation of between a £3.5m loss and net income of £7m.
