Yahoo! to introduce paid-for <BR>listings on search engine

NEW YORK - Yahoo! is to introduce paid-for listings to its search engine in one of a series of moves designed to increase revenue as internet advertising dries up.

It will work with Overture Services, formerly known as GoTo.com, to supply five paid-for listings on Yahoo! search pages. A company will then pay for every user who clicks through to its site from a Yahoo! search.

It has recently changed its auction charging system and introduced paid-for auto classified advertising.

The deal with Overture will not affect Yahoo!'s relationship with Google, which powers searches for topics not covered by Yahoo!.
