Yahoo! Europe unworried by dotcom failures

Yahoo! Europe says it is in a better position than its US parent company to survive a drop in advertising revenue as a result of dotcom failures.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Yahoo! Europe says it is in a better position than its US parent company to survive a drop in advertising revenue as a result of dotcom failures.

The European arm of the portal has said that the risk of falling income resulting from any downturn in advertising spend by internet start-ups was small, as only 2% of advertising revenue came from dotcoms.

The US company also said on Tuesday (July 11) that less than 10% of its ad revenue came from companies it termed as 鈥渇inancially questionable clients鈥.

Yahoo! announced its second-quarter results yesterday (July 12), beating analysts estimates and causing technology stocks to soar. The US technology index Nasdaq rallied to its highest point since April 10, closing 143.17 up at 4,099.59.
