The poster, which appeared on the London Undeground, was headlined: "Each morning I wake up with Christian. He gives me the inspiration to seize the day, to live every moment as if it were my last."
It showed a picture of an elderly woman standing in a lounge and holding headphones to her ears. A caption at the foot of the picture said: "This page Doris wears woollen skirt form charity shop £3, wig from Ethel Blandford down the road, perfume model's own eau de toilet. She listens to Xfm 104.9 London."
The complainant objected that the ad was offensive because it suggested that elderly people smelled like toilets.
The ASA, however, decided that the woman in the poster was portrayed in a positive manner and believed the phrase "eau do toilet" was unlikely to be taken literally and that people would understand the humorous nature of the wordplay.
The ASA found that, because of its positive and humorous approach, the poster was unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence.
