WPP's Sir Martin Sorrell to chair DMA Awards judges

LONDON - WPP Group CEO Sir Martin Sorrell is chairing the judging panel for the 24th annual DMA Awards in association with Royal Mail.

Sir Martin said of his involvement in the judging. "Direct marketing, through its greater emphasis on measurement and targeting is leading the recovery of an industry that has suffered greatly over the past two or three years. Networks such as ours need to show as much commitment and passion for direct communications as has traditionally been given to TV and more traditional media."

Lin McCarthy, chair of the DMA Awards committee, said. "Sir Martin Sorrell's participation shows an understanding at a global level that direct communications must be recognised for what they are -- creative, strategically led, results-driven marketing."

As chair of judges, he will oversee the 200 strong judging panel and take part in the final decision on who wins the Grand Prix -- selected from all of the category gold winners.
