
WPP said in a statement today that it is proposing to appoint Deloitte & Touche "following a thorough review of services offered by a number of the leading international accountancy firms".
The marketing services company, owner of agencies including Ogilvy & Mather and J Walter Thompson, is one of a growing list of leading companies to dump Andersen as its involvement in the scandal surrounding collapsed energy firm Enron came to light.
Last month, Australian-listed News Corporation said it was sacking Andersen and looking for another auditor. Companies such as Stagecoach and BHP Billiton have taken the same action and, in the US, some of its biggest clients, including Ford Motors and FedEx, have also parted ways with Andersen.
