The unit will be known as MEC Interaction and is part of media planning and buying group Mediaedge:cia. It will unite the online media buying and planning services of the Digital Edge; Outrider's search marketing services; and Wunderman Media's direct response media planning and buying unit.
Working with Norman, who takes the role of worldwide chief executive officer of MEC Interactive, will be Alan Schanzer, formerly managing partner of the Digital Edge, and Sarah Hammel, who was formerly finance director of Wunderman Media. Schanzer takes the title of managing partner, while Hammel will be senior partner.
Charles Courtier, executive chairman of Mediaedge:cia, said: "Whether the consumer response is through a toll-free number, a website, text messaging, downloaded content or snail mail, the new MEC Interaction has the ability to do it all for clients.
"And Rob Norman, with his prior experience as head of Outrider and as a unifier for all of MEC's UK entities, is the perfect leader to tie the one-to-one disciplines together, both in the US and across the MEC network."
Other executives at MEC Interaction include: Chris Copeland, formerly Outrider's partner and managing director, now overseeing search engine marketing for MEC Interaction as managing partner and practice lead; and Jeanne Burkle, Maureen McKillop and Jean Scanlon as senior partners and practice leads. They were formerly group media directors for Wunderman Media, and will now manage MEC Interaction's offline direct marketing specialists.
