Mediaedge:cia confirms details of Norman's US move

LONDON - Rob Norman, chairman of Mediaedge:cia in the UK, has been promoted to a global role and will relocate to New York to work on new business for Wunderman Media, the Digital Edge and Outrider.

Norman, who took up the chairman role at WPP Group-owned Mediaedge:cia in 2003, will report to executive chairman Charles Courtier. He moves in January next year, and his new role will also see him develop Mediaedge:cia's sponsorship and entertainment marketing capabilities.

Courtier said: "Rob is unquestionably one of the most talented individuals at Mediaedge:cia.

"In just one-and-a-half years, he has completely rebuilt Mediaedge:cia UK, including significant success in communications planning and implementation, as well as the integration of specialist businesses into our core offerings. Mediaedge:cia UK is unique in our network because 50% of its revenues now arise from communications activities outside and beyond media planning and buying."

Norman has been part of the agency for almost 20 years, joining CIA as a media assistant in 1986.

He quickly became a group head and, in 1994, started CIA's first venture in interactive media and marketing. He formed CIA Group's full service media and marketing operation, Outrider, in 1998, and following CIA's merger with The Media Edge in 2002, became worldwide director of new business development while continuing to head up Outrider. He was named chairman of Mediaedge:cia UK in March 2003.
