WPP buys technology marketing agency

WPP Group agency Young & Rubicam Advertising has bought US technology marketing agency SicolaMartin for an undisclosed sum.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - WPP Group agency Young & Rubicam Advertising has bought US technology marketing agency SicolaMartin for an undisclosed sum.

SicolaMartin offers integrated services for business-to-business brands incorporating marketing, consulting, design, advertising and interactive work. Its clients include Novell, Compaq Computer, Citrix Systems, 3M and Vignette.

Last year, it had billings of $119m (£83.07m), revenues of $18m (£12.56m) and net assets of $2.8m (£1.95m). The 16-year-old firm is based in Austin, Texas and employs 118 staff.

It will retain its name and senior management team, as founders and partners Tom Sicola and Steve Martin continue to head up the agency in their respective roles of president/CEO and senior vice-president/executive creative director.

Ed Vick, chairman and CEO of Y&R, said SicolaMartin鈥檚 鈥渦nique expertise鈥 would complement Y&R鈥檚 existing technology marketing capabilities, such as Y&R San Francisco and London-based Banner Corporation.
