In a seminar on corporate hospitality Hewitt said South Africa "simply doesn't have the infrastructure" to put on what is arguably the World's second largest event after the Olympics.

He revealed how one of his clients has had to pay £13,000 to secure accommodation during the event, even though it booked over a year ago.

Added to that, its insurance company won't cover it unless the party has an armed security guard with them at all times.

"The situation is farcical," said Hewitt. "No-one can get accommodation. The ironic thing is that South Africans don't want to see their own country play, they are more interested in England, so the opening game with South Africa versus Mexico isn't sold out. Organisers have dropped the prices three times, they are at rock bottom. It should never have gone to Africa."

Event will be reporting live from the talks at RSVP10 over the next two days so look out for further news and updates.
