The historic venue, owned by Royal Parks, will host the Olympic equestrian events but requires a good deal of preparation over the next two years.
Irrigation, de-compaction of parts of the ground, and the final marking out of the cross-country course will all need to be completed ahead of a test event in 2011.
Ground improvement work will begin in August 2010, continuing throughout 2011 and up to the Games in July 2012. The regularity will vary, depending on weather and ground conditions.
Some works funded by Games organiser Locog will continue beyond the Games to ensure the park is returned to its previous condition, as part of the organisation's commitment to re-instate the park.
