The publisher, which is owned by the family of the late Sir John Paul Getty, had owned the influential monthly cricket magazine since 1993.
The magazine is now part of Sky's publishing arm, BSkyB Publications. Sky will continue to publish the title under the same name, keeping on its commercial and editorial teams, including editor John Stern.
However, Wisden has retained the ownership of the title's famous annual almanac of cricketing facts.
Fellow monthly stablemate The Oldie, fronted by The Independent columnist Richard Ingrams, has been bought by a group of investors, including James Pembroke, the magazine's former business manager. The prices paid for the titles are undisclosed.
Getty bought the Wisden Cricketer in 1993 and added The Oldie, which he bought from publishing tycoon Naim Attallah in 2001, after the title was in danger of closure when it reportedly failed to break even.
Fellow investors in The Oldie include Richard Beatty, of ad sales agency Mongoose Media, along with David Kowitz, of financial firm Indus Capital Partners. Beatty will now head up ad sales on the title.
The publisher will retain its cricket website and its ball-tracking technology Hawk-Eye and the rights to publish the almanac.
