Wireless Group builds management line-up for Edinburgh station launch

LONDON - Peter Gillespie has been named station director of Talk 107, the Edinburgh speech radio station to be launched by The Wireless Group early next year.

Gillespie has extensive experience in radio sales including stints at Radio Clyde, Independent Radio Sales and Scottish Media Group. He also worked on the launch team of Classic FM in 1992.

His recent career saw him launch his own online consultancy, which was then invested in by recruitment agency Search Consultancy. He subsequently became sales and marketing director of Search Consultancy.

Launch director of the station is Calum Macaulay, who previously worked on the relaunch of Talk Radio as TalkSport.

"Peter has the experience we're looking for. He understands radio and radio launches and combines this with the fact that he understands the difficulties facing anyone launching a new business venture," Macaulay said.

Also appointed is programme director Colin Paterson who joins from Emap's Middlesbrough station 96.6 TFM, which won the 2005 Commercial Radio Companies Association commercial radio station of the year award.
