Winkreative in deal with Audi and Prada

Winkreative has signed Audi and Prada for long-term product placement-style deals in its forthcoming magazine launch, Monocle.

Illustrated versions of Audi's new TT model and Prada's latest mobile phone will feature heavily in Kita Koga, a manga-style comic strip bound into the creative agency's magazine each month.

Each of the commercial partners will be featured in at least the first five editions of the comic strip, which is written by Monocle's editorial team and produced by Japanese illustrators at Shueisha Publishing.

Monocle, conceived by Wallpaper founder Tyler Brule, will be launched on 14 February, priced £5, with an international sales target of 75,000 copies.

The magazine is pitched as a cross between Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and weekly news magazines and is aimed at affluent, well- travelled readers aged 25 to 55.

Winkreative has hired Dan Hill, previously creative director for BBC Radio online, as director of web and broadcast for Monocle's website, www.monocle.com, which has soft launched to drive subscriptions of the magazine ahead of its launch on 14 February.

The publisher has secured distribution with WHSmith, Borders and Waitrose for the magazine and will promote it on outdoor sites at Heathrow at launch.
