William Hill makes takeover approach for online gaming company 888

Bookmaker William Hill has been in talks to acquire the company behind online poker brand 888, with reports claiming it has made a preliminary offer of £750m.

Listed company 888 Holdings today admitted it has received an approach from William Hill, following an article in The Times that reported Britain's biggest bookmaker has reached preliminary agreement with the board of 888 Holdings over a 210p per share offer.

William Hill is yet to issue a statement to the stockmarket.
