Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam hires international creative talent

LONDON - Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam has added three new creatives to its department, Gwen Yip, Hemant Jain, and Jorge Calleja, who join from China, India, and Mexico respectively.

Art director Gwen Yip joins W&K Amsterdam from a freelancing stint at the London office, where she worked on the Yakult brand. Previously she spent five years as an art director for Ogilvy & Mather in Hong Kong, on brands such as Dove and Panadol.

Al Moseley, W&K Amsterdam's executive creative director, said: "We were blown away by Gwen's illustrations. After she'd met us at the agency, she sent us a sketch book of her visit -- there we all were, captured with true originality. We just thought 'she's in'."

Copywriter Hemant Jain joins Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam, having previously worked for Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett in Delhi, before moving to Mumbai to work for Rediffusion DY&R.

John Norman, joint-executive creative director, said: "It's great to have someone on board who is as diverse as Hemant. Not only is he supremely talented, his work on environmental issues also says a lot about his character. I think he can bring something very special and unique to the Wieden & Kennedy melting pot."

Jain volunteered his services to the Centre for Science and Environment, to help them raise awareness of environmental issues through the 'Subscribe to common sense' campaign.

Jorge Calleja joins the Amsterdam office in June, as an art director to partner senior copywriter Carlo Cavallone on the Nike account. Jorge joins from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, where he art directed the 'Got milk?' campaign.

Alvaro Sotomayor, creative director for the Nike business, said: "Jorge brings immense talent to the agency and we're lucky to have him as part of the Nike creative team. His interactive experience will no doubt be put to good use on upcoming campaigns."

Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam employ 150 people from more than 25 nationalities. The team has created campaigns for companies such as Electronic Arts, Coca-Cola, Nike, Procter & Gamble, Carlsberg and Sharp.
