The media centre will be built in MEPC’s Wellington Place in Leeds city centre and will welcome more than 2,500 journalists and broadcasters from the world’s press. It will also host over 800 official branded race vehicles.

Simon Spikin, operations director at Wellpleased Events, said: "The temporary structures cover a surface area of over 5,400 square metres and will provide a telecommunications and office base for every press member covering the race so it’s no mean feat."

The site will take a week to build with a lot of the work ensuring that every power socket, connection and cable is working to capacity.

Sam Welply, owner of Wellpleased Events, added that all eyes will be on Yorkshire and the UK in July, and "we want to make sure that every one of the hundreds of TV cameras capture the unique and exciting offering which Yorkshire and the UK has here."
