Mktg - Hi, this is a very strange question. My friend was telling me that you're doing in-flight wedding services. I just wanted to get some information, as my fiancée and I are very keen flyers. I think it would be an amazing surprise for her to get married on a flight.

easyJet - On a flight? I haven't heard about such a service. But let me just check this for you. I'll put you on a very short hold.

Mktg - [Holds.]

easyJet - Hello, it's [name] once again, thank you for waiting. My colleague heard about it, but it was only a suggestion. We do not offer such a service on-board.

Mktg - I think my friend was saying it was something being planned, so I just wanted to try and sort something out before.

easyJet - There was a good suggestion but we are not offering such a service yet.

Mktg - OK. Is there a timescale for when a decision could be made?

easyJet - My colleague said it is a service that the pilots would do. However, they are not entitled to lead such a ceremony at the moment, which is why we cannot offer such a service on board. We're not sure if it's a joke in the paper.

Mktg - I didn't read it as a joke. We completely love flying and thought it would be amazing.

easyJet - I understand that. But we do not offer such a service.

Mktg - I know you can't say anything at the moment, but-

easyJet - [Interrupts] If we do, I'm sure it will be advertised.

Mktg - That's fine. I think it would be quite funny. You could have cans trailing off the plane, and things like that.

easyJet - Well, it would be very interesting.

Mktg - I'd imagine you could try and sneak your family on at the back and then spring it on your fiancée that you're having a wedding. Just out of interest though, who would fly the plane?

easyJet - Well, it could take place at the airport.

Mktg - So, it wouldn't necessarily be when you're in the air?

easyJet - No. Even if you made a film of the wedding, who would know that the plane is not flying?

Mktg - That's true, but I think I would know.

easyJet - As you know, we have other pilots on board, so it wouldn't be a problem to have a service for half an hour, maybe. But not at the moment. If we offer such a service, it will certainly be advertised for all our customers.

Mktg - Thanks for your time.

easyJet - Thank you for calling easyJet, have a great afternoon.

Verdict - Although the story had been covered in the media the call handler had not been briefed about it. I was put on hold for almost two minutes, and even then, he could not say if it was being planned, or if it was a joke. However, considering that it was such an odd set of questions, he remained polite and tried to answer them all.
